Popular American investor Michael Burry, known for his impeccable ability to spot market bubbles despite frenzy, was asked to give life advice to a 26-year-old GenZ. The 'Big Short' fame market veteran listed 10 pieces of advice in a substack post, including some linked to how one manages personal finance.Michael Burry rose to fame after he correctly predicted the 2008 housing crisis. He has recently been ramping up his bets against the AI frenzy, screaming a big crash ahead once the bubble around the new technology bursts.

Moving away from his typical bearish predictions, Burry gave some life advice to a 26-year-old in a Substack post on his channel ‘Cassandra Unchained’. Here are the 10 life lessons listed by him.

Burry advised the young generation to never stop exercising or learning. He also suggested that people should accept compromise to begin relationships. The popular investor additionally feels people should have kids and be good parents.
It is important to be thankful for and to all, as well as be charitable, according to Burry. "Art in the eye of the beholder is cheap," he wrote. One user commented, asking him if by this he meant people should keep in mind what they value as art doesn't need to be expensive, and they can find joy in things that are free as just because something is expensive doesn’t make it valuable. Burry replied that this is what he meant.
Michael Burry's personal finance advice
Michael Burry said people should never gamble and should manifest the power compounding. Notably, legendary investor Warren Buffett and others too have repeatedly advised investors to stay patient and continue to compound.
The ‘Big Short’ fame investor also spoke about an issue that remains a key doubt for most GenZ - when to buy a house. “Buy half the house you can afford,” he said. Ironically, the market veteran who is advising people to buy house was the one who correctly predicted the housing crisis in the US which triggered a global financial crisis in 2008.
“If it flies or floats, rent it,” Burry said, referring to discretionary spending on depreciating assets like planes and boats.

Michael Burry’s AI warnings
Michael Burry has been ramping up his warnings over the excessive optimism about AI. Recently, he said that the market is currently in a 'denial' mood, a phase that could last six to nine months, as seen during the previous 2000 and 2008 crises.
He recently cited data which showed that it would take only a season in which AI revenue disappoints the massive capital expenditure that hyperscalers are putting behind it. “In that scenario, a handful of boards, predisposed to redeploy capital toward the highest-conviction bet, would simply need to conclude that the highest-conviction bet has shifted,” the report said.
This comes after Burry said in August that the AI crash could begin from 2028. However, his latest comments imply that he expects this to happen sooner. Recently, he said the President Donald Trump-led US administration cannot afford to let the AI boom fail. He explained that AI infrastructure buildout has become a critical support for the US economy, keeping very little room for the Trump administration to let the ongoing AI boom weaken, Stockwits reported. Notably, Burry has been shorting AI-linked stocks and warning investors of a sharp selloff ahead.
