Kaveri Seed Company Limited has posted a net loss of ₹3.21 crore in the second quarter ended September 30, 2026, against a loss of ₹15.05 crore in the same quarter previous year.

The July-September quarter is the lean season for seed companies, as most kharif seed is sold before June.

The board declared an interim dividend of ₹5 a share (face value ₹2), to be paid on or before November 26. Revenue from operations rose 29.84 per cent to ₹125.44 crore from ₹96.61 crore.

For the half-year, standalone net profit fell 11.1 per cent to ₹268.09 crore from ₹301.45 crore. Revenue from operations declined 9.7 per cent to ₹940.44 crore from ₹1,041.91 crore. The company said El Niño and the delayed onset of the monsoon affected sowing, particularly maize, and demand for its premium products.

“The first half of the year was shaped by El Niño and the delayed onset of the monsoon, which weighed on sowing, particularly in maize, and on demand for our premium products. The second quarter was better, with revenue up 29.84 per cent and EBITDA turning positive, recovering part of the ground lost in the first quarter,” Mithun Chand, Executive Director, said here in a statement on Friday.

The board approved setting up wholly owned subsidiaries in Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and Peru, with an investment of up to ₹50 lakh in each. Muppasani Bhanu Prakash has been appointed Chief Financial Officer.
